On completion of this qualification, students are eligible for advanced standing equivalent to 8 modules admission into ACAP’s suite of Bachelor of Applied Social Science (BASSIX) courses. Graduates with a Diploma of Counselling will have gained the foundation skills and knowledge required to undertake entry level work in a range of human service organisations where problem solving, communication and referral services are important. Positions such as Family Support worker; Intake worker, Family Advisor and Support Worker may advertise for applicants with a Diploma of Counselling qualification. This qualification is the first step toward gaining the qualifications necessary to achieve recognition with a professional association such as the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia, Inc (PACFA).
