
Graduates of this course will be capable of practising as a counsellor in a variety of contexts and circumstances and be fully cognisant of the ethical implications of such work.
The Graduate Diploma offers students foundational knowledge in major counselling theories, perspectives and approaches. Students learn to apply the skills of counselling and to be proficient in the application of generic counselling skills for work in the helping and allied professions. The course offers students the opportunity to grow in self awareness and self-understanding and assists them in a sequenced and supportive manner to integrate the theory and practice of counselling, through an innovative combination of teaching methods and assessment activities.
The course provides students with a practiced-based awareness of ethical, clinical and wider contextual issues necessary to operate responsibly as a counsellor in the helping and allied professions.
